AVISE · A HOUSE FOR YOUR FIRM'S DEAL FLOW
§ 02 · SOLUTIONS
Avise is deal flow software for search funds.
Reviewing hundreds of companies to find the one.
Heavy inbound screening, a very small team, and investors who read everything you send them.
THE WEEK
A searcher’s first month can run to 1,700 companies reviewed and 350 approached. Almost none of that time goes on the company you eventually buy. It goes on working out what is worth pursuing, and then on the admin around each maybe: the NDA out, the teaser back, the broker chased, the numbers keyed into a tab that is stale by the time you open it again.
Spreadsheets do this until they do not. The list is fine at forty rows and unusable at four hundred, and the moment a second person needs to read it, it stops being a system at all.
The boundary, plainly: Avise does not find the companies for you. You bring the list. What it does is organise the outreach that list turns into and the deal flow that comes back, then get you through it faster: the teaser read, the NDA out, the broker chased, the numbers kept, and all of it still there in six months.
Two search funds run their deal flow on Avise today: Cicero Capital in Mumbai and Temescal Capital in California. Both are also buy-side advisory clients of ours.
WHAT WE SET UP FIRST
- Bring the list across
- Bulk import by CSV, Excel or paste, into a pipeline that runs sourcing through IOI and LOI to close.
- A first read on the numbers
- Extraction with every figure carrying its source page, so a first look does not cost an afternoon or an outside adviser.
- Something your investors can read
- Memo templates that draft from the deal's own data and link back to the figures behind them.
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK
- What software do search fund principals use to track deal flow?
Most start in a spreadsheet, because a searcher's first month can mean reviewing 1,700 companies and reaching out to 350. Avise is deal flow software built for that volume: bulk import of your list, a pipeline through IOI and LOI, and financial extraction so a first read on the numbers does not cost an afternoon.
- Can a solo searcher use Avise, or is it built for a bigger team?
It works for one person, and the price does not change if you add a second. Cicero Capital and Temescal Capital, two search funds who run their deal flow on Avise, are both small teams rather than large ones.
- How do search fund analysts keep a screening spreadsheet from breaking at scale?
Most spreadsheets are fine at forty rows and unusable at four hundred, and stop being a shared system the moment a second person needs to read them. Avise replaces the sheet with a pipeline, a contact book and extraction that keeps a first read on a CIM's numbers under a few minutes instead of an afternoon.
OTHER SHAPES
Avise is built the same way for three other kinds of firm. If none of these match, the solutions overview has all four.
